Breakdowns and breakthroughs

The dog. The weather. Work. Class. The universe threw me over this past week, big time, and it's been stress, stress, and more stress. Emotional wreckage is strewn across my psyche like storm tossed planks of an ill-fated ship on a rocky jetty. I've gone off track, and need to try to get back on. So. This coming week I'll be brainstorming on the Flash Fiction challenge thrown down by Chuck Wendig at Terribleminds, to write a story about one of 60 stock photos. The photos are...bizarre. Surreal. Kooky. And some of them are downright AWESOME (the dog lumberjack and photocopying chipmunks are tied as my current favorites). I'm looking forward to the current F3 prompt. I've missed a couple of really good one's the last two weeks, and want to get back into contributing there.

I have been dedicating my free time to reading River of Gods by Ian Macdonald. This is a serious piece of speculative-future fiction, one that has made me think, made me wince, made me smile. I want to write a review. I've had that on my mind since about mid-story, when I began to understand how the strings were woven into the (somewhat lumbering and very, very complicated) plot through the multiple character narratives, and how, ultimately, they are all interconnected. There are shades of so many things here...where to start. I'll think on it some more...

more breakthroughs!

hope everyone on the dog front is somehow working.

glad you're still thrilled about the writing! its good that you have something fulfilling and intellectual to do/contribute to and people may pay you for your reviews. :)
