The Countdown Begins

Yesterday I went out to the library to pick up some books for an upcoming quick little road trip. I had just finally finished The Master & Margarita*, and decided the collection of Flannery O'Conner short stories I was also trying to get through just wasn't going to keep my interest, so I dropped those of and picked up a hefty pile, which is pictured below. I had at one point grabbed several other books, but decided to note them and go back for them at a later time. I swear, I could just spend *hours* wandering in a library. Some of the fiction offerings at my local branch aren't as robust as I'd like, but I am pleasantly surprised from time to time. For example, the copy of the revisit to The Last Unicorn is a signed limited edition printing.

I've taken a little break from the blog smack in the middle of NaBloPoMo, so I will probably not be entitled to the badge or whatever when the month is over. I'm okay with that - I'd rather not force a post if there is nothing to be said, ya know?

This is a short work week, because of the upcoming holiday. So I'm in slight hustle mode for the next three days, both at home and at the office. Thanksgiving will be spent with my parents and my sister, who is home from college for the holiday. Then on Friday we'll be driving most of the day, to spend the weekend with my brother-in-law and his family in Eastern Tennessee (where the highs will be in the 50s and the lows will maybe make the mid-20s...), and will drive home Monday. My in-laws have agreed to babysit the housebeasts while we're gone.

I see M in a couple weeks for a Jonathan Coulton concert. I am very happy about that. We've both gotten very busy and getting the time to see each other isn't as easy as it used to be, and our time together gets fewer and farther between all the time, it seems like. And that's in December, which will be pretty much lost to Christmas, so...

Holy hell, where did this year go?

*I was planning to write a review of this book for what I thought was going to be a series for another website, which is a start-up social networking concept. I haven't heard back since I submitted my initial review for the first book planned for the recurring column (in fact, that response was very brief), so I am going to assume that this is another dead end and I'll just post the review in Goodreads. Moving on! Again!

I HAVE NO IDEA!! it makes me caps everything though. it went by super fast, I think it was definitely the fastest year of MY LIFE. I do really miss you, glad we're getting a chance to see each other. what is that, the 3rd time this year? better than nothing.

keep writing no matter what and see what sticks. like spaghetti on a wall? though why anyone would throw pasta on their wall I can't be sure...just like 3pm on Tuesdays and galoshes on a sunny day, I never know what to make of these things....

love youuuuuuu.

I know. It's really difficult to plan things anymore. I take the blame for that. I'm incredibly unfocused and getting worse and worse at pinning down. I resolve to fit time with you in more in the post-Apocalypse to come. :D
