"Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger."

If anyone has ever wondered just how far the Geek goes with yours truly, the following took place during a conversation with my boss earlier this morning about people creating work-arounds and circumventing policy:

Me: Why do we have rules when there are no consequences for not following them?

Boss: You have to remember that a good business manager remembers that between the black and the white are many shades of grey.

...And suddenly, there I am thinking of myself as Gandalf the Grey, wondering (and not for the first time, either) if my co-workers are my Balrog. Our conversation moved on to other topics, but by then I was distracted by the possibility of tracking down some Darkside cookies in time for Elevensies.
