We interrupt this regularly scheduled workday...

Just got the following message in my inbox:

USF Tampa—Reports of a gunman on campus in lot 2 near Bioscience building. Police enroute. Stay inside and lock doors. Avoid area.

And the story has already made the news.

I love where it says "Officials have told students and faculty to stay inside and lock doors". I guess the staff are free to keep their doors unlocked and generally roam about?

We've had a crime alert bulletin posted on all of the building doors and windows this week because of some kind of holdup near the Residence Hall on our campus earlier this week, so is it just me, or is general gun-related crime on the rise these days or should I just figure that it comes with the territory of living in the city?

Update: Another false alarm.
