The looming shadow of deadlines grows quickly apace of the time available for writing.

  • First draft of my essay for my creative non-fiction class, deadline today: successfully presented for peer feedback.
  • F3 cycle 17 - prompt "the novel game", deadline tomorrow at 4:30 pm: first sentence identified...currently passively brainstorming three paragraphs written.
  • NYC Midnight short story contest - assigned prompts (genre - mystery & subject - begging), deadline this Saturday: brainstormed, outlined, first 180 words (of a word count limit of 2,500) on paper.
  • Bad Austen "Write Like Jane" contest, submission deadline March 1st: brainstormed, no words on paper.
If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.

So there you have it. A bunch of things "in progress". And me, foolishly contemplating freelancing, in addition. Yeah, that's going to work out, I'm sure.

I say that because I overextend, or I set out to do a thing and then never do. The road to you-know-where is paved with you-know-what. I make all these plans and fall short. Drives me NUTS.

the road to Oz is paved in gold. your reflection may clutter your view, but you've bitten off enough to heartily chew.
