Fluffy little bundles of concentrated EVIL

Actual conversation that took place between me and my husband at lunch...well, part of it. I've dramatized it a little for literary affect, but this is the type of thing that I talk about. A lot. Also, monkeys in top hats wearing monocles. For those of who don't actually know me, be grateful. For Those of you who do...I'm sorry.

Me (spying a squirrel a couple of feet away from the table we were sitting at): Ugh. Look at that evil little tree rodent. They carry the plague. Okay...they carry fleas that can carry the plague. But still. I mean, is there anything more terrifying. Sure they look cute and fluffy, but have you ever really looked at a squirrel? Have you noticed their beady little eyes, and their creepy paws that look like tiny hads? And the sharp, gnashy rodent teeth? Evil.

Husband: This coming from the person who watches zombie movies.

Me: Yeah, but the likelihood of having to be confronted with a zombie is pretty much nil, right? Being attacked by a psycho squirrel? Happens all the time. If you've never felt the abject terror of being chased by an overly bold squirrel looking for a handout, then you've never truly known fear.

By the way, thanks to Daylight Savings Time, I'm still behind - yet again - on my NaNoWriMo story. Yeah, somehow the site account didn't register the time change, so right at 11:00 pm, when it would ordinarily have been midnight but with techincally an hour still left to write on Sunday, the website decided that it was now Monday, and decided NOT to count a couple hundred words towards the previous day. I was *so* close to meeting the word goal for Sunday. It's like time and the internet a consipring against me...

I'm thinking of working a confused Mariachi band into my story somehow (maybe they sing pop songs in Spanglish and get the lyrics wrong) - I just have to figure out where. Just to clue you in, this wouldn't even be the most random or silly element in this story so far. Not by a long shot.
